Elaine Lee has been Instructor at Palo Alto Martial Arts since 2008, and is a third degree black belt. As an instructor she loves to help younger students become better martial artists, and she emphasizes hard work, accuracy and an understanding of the significance of practicing taekwondo poomsae. She has ambitions to achieve her 4th Dan, and continues to compete at the state and national level under USA Taekwondo.
As a poomsae athlete, she is a 2015 US National Champion in senior female team poomsae, and a two-time California State Champion in 2014 and 2015, for junior pairs poomsae and senior female team poomsae respectively. She is also a five-time gold medalist at both the Silicon Valley Open Taekwondo Championship and American Open Taekwondo Championship.
She has participated in many high-level poomsae and sparring seminars with internationally-distinguished taekwondo figures, such as four-time senior female poomsae World Champion Kang Su Ji, South Korea’s Junior National Team trainer Heo Seung Jae, and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist Chung Kook Hyun. Instructor Elaine comes from a martial arts family. Her younger brother, Andrew, is a 3rd Dan black belt at PAMA working towards his 4th Dan, and her father is a 4th Dan black belt in Hapkido.
She graduated from Los Altos Altos High School in 2015, and attends the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a member and tournament chair of the Penn Taekwondo Club. She currently competes in the Eastern Collegiate
Taekwondo Conference and National Collegiate Taekwondo Association.
